CE Engineer/Project Engineer

The Role

Part of the teams daily function will be to provide project support within its machinery and tooling divisions and machine spares for manufacturing. To support to our Machinery business is our CE Marking consultancy service. This will entail carrying out CE Assessments of machinery, equipment and devices as well as carrying out non-compliance inspections of machinery, compiling necessary reports and documentation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Support
  • Development and promotion of CE Marking business
  • Development of Machine, Repair and operation business
  • Carry out CE Assessments on machinery, equipment and devices
  • Carry out non-compliance inspections on machinery and equipment
  • Testing and evaluating compliance to the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC
  • Write and compile Technical Construction file in line with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC to support the Machinery Directive and Declaration of Conformity
  • Inspect machinery and equipment in respect to Essential Health & Safety Requirements 2006/42/EEC and Low Volt Directive LVD 2006/95/EC, ensuring that machinery and equipment complies with the latest European Harmonised Standards
  • Sign off Declaration of Conformity and/or Certificates of incorporation where applicable
  • Organise and liaise with Government Notified Bodies for the compliance to CE Marking of Annex IV machinery
  • Develop and establish the ability to offer PUWER (1998) assessments
  • Ensure that all necessary modifications are completed satisfactorily
  • Carry out risk assessments to support engineering judgements
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing ideas and future strategies to improve operating efficiency in QCDMSE and business performance
  • Provide 'Engineering Solutions' to offer value added service where possible
  • Carry out negotiations with customers and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers and suppliers
  • Oversee and authorise business transactions, customer quotations, purchase orders and invoices
  • Demonstrating appropriate commercial awareness safeguarding the company's position in compliance with Corporate Governance
  • Provide necessary support to senior management in pursuance of Group and company targets

Person Specification:

The successful candidate must have:

  • Demonstrable track record of CE Marking
  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Demonstrable track record in a manufacturing environment, ideally in automotive
  • Thorough understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems implementation
  • Thorough understanding of safety systems and devices
  • Thorough understanding of European Harmonised Standards, specifically:
    • Essential Health and Safety Requirements 2006/42/EEC
    • Low Volt Directive LVD 2006/95/EC
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Ability to support judgements with supportive documentation and reasoning
  • Full UK driving licence for manual transmission
  • Ability to travel within Europe and globally without restriction
