This position will report to the Production Manager but will mostly be working day to day as directed by the Shopfloor Manager. The role is primarily to assist in the construction, testing and packing of high voltage fibre optic assemblies. Training will be given in the special skills specific to various aspects of this work, however basic practical assembly skills, full colour vision and a good level of manual dexterity will be required to succeed in the role.
Typically, this role will require (but not be limited to) the activities listed below:
Stripping/marking/labelling & general handling of fibre optic cables and their components
Terminating and testing of optical fibres with various types connector.
Completing production paperwork (e.g. recording serial numbers or test results)
Adhesive and sealant application
Use of hot air guns and heat shrinkable plastic tubing
General simple mechanical assembly operations
Manual handling (e.g. loading of finished products in to packing crates)
Normal hours of work
07:30 to 16:15 Monday to Friday with a daily unpaid break of 45 minutes, and a paid break of 15 minutes. i.e. 40 paid hours/week in total
