The principal responsibility of this role is to ensure that products are manufactured and delivered to the market place effectively, efficiently, safely, on-time, to specification and in a cost-effect manner in order that the company continues to be a leading manufacturer in its core area.
To work in close collaboration with the Operations Manager to achieve the following:
- To manage the manufacturing team, including the mentoring and development of colleagues.
- Contribute and implement the rolling strategic plan for manufacturing.
- Be responsible for Health, Safety and Environment for the manufacturing process in conjunction with the EHS Manager and Operations Manager.
- Set and manage performance targets for direct reports in order that there is a clear line of sight to the company vision - 100% OTIF
- Interface with other functions including R&D, Customer Care, Commercial, Finance and HR to deliver outcome focused solutions to business challenges.
- Contribute to the development of the business to deliver quality products and processes.
- Deliver continuously improving service and quality improvements.
- To co-ordinate with Engineering to ensure PM and FM services are facilitated in accordance with requirements.
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong problem solving skills that enable sound business judgement and decision making
- Experience of supply chain management
- Manufacturing Engineering (including Standard Operations, plant layout, waste elimination, continuous improvement, engineering change control).
- Demonstrate Lean Manufacturing experience in batch and continuous manufacturing.
- Confident communication, influencing, negotiation and assertiveness skills
- Broad engineering technical skills and knowledge of implementation across a wide range of industries.
- Quality management that delivers to customer requirements.
- Project management and change management.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
- Meeting and exceeding performance measures and continuous improvement KPI's.
- Delivering projects safely, on-time, to budget and to specification.
- Creating and delivering the Manufacturing plan to budget.
- Ensuring delivery of best in class service and quality to pre-defined standards.
Essential qualifications:
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, with relevant experience as defined below.
- NEBOSH or working towards desirable.
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or relevant problem solving experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working directly in a Manufacturing environment
